TO ALL:  PLEASE FORWARD TO EVERYONE IN YOUR CONFEDERATE ADDRESS BOOK TO THOSE WHOM YOU DEEM MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS EVENT. If you get this notice more than once, please forgive me & hit delete!  If you wish to be removed from my address book, please advise & I will remove you, as there are many addresses in my address book that I do not recognize. This is a legitimate message with a Word attachment. It is not spam or a virus.

The 20th Annual Nathan Bedford Forrest Birthday Celebration will be held JULY 27, 2019 this year. MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW! The National SCV Reunion in Mobile, AL took our traditional second Saturday in July, so I hope your calendar will allow you to attend our celebration this year. Past AL Div. SCV Commander, Ronnie Simmons will be our Master of Ceremonies & will do all he can to keep me on track and he will, as always, delight you with his wonderful sense of humor!

If you have received a snail mail flyer, you will note that the MUSIC feature has changed. Alan Harrelson will not be able to perform for us this year due to circumstances out of his control. But we have a wonderful family group called DIXIE JUBILEE performing for us and they are outstanding! They play several different instruments & sing Celtic music, Southern traditional music, Southern Gospel and have many original compositions as well. If you were at Stone Mountain this past April for National Confederate Memorial Day, you enjoyed their music there!

We will be drawing once again for the solid bronze Nathan B. Forrest mini bust…an exact replica of the embattled Nathan Bedford Forrest almost life-size bronze bust atop the NBF monument in Selma at Confederate Memorial Circle in Historic Live Oak Cemetery in Selma. Tickets are $2 each. If you wish to participate in the drawing & would like tickets, please let me know & I will send them via Word Attachment. There are 5 tickets per page, on 8 ½ x 14 legal size paper. Print off as many as you’d like, make check payable to NBF Monument Fund/Confederate Memorial Circle & mail to me: Pat Godwin at Fort Dixie, 10800 Co. Rd. 30, Selma, Alabama 36701. You do not have to be present to win. Mail check & tickets back by July 26. We have several of these busts available for sale at $2500 each!  This fine work of art will certainly be a valuable asset to anyone’s home or Southern library or office!  We also have the Friends of Forrest T-shirts for sale at $20 each (Plus $5 ship & hand if I have to mail it) and the Historical 2015 Rededication of Confederate Memorial Circle DVD 3-disc set for $25 per set. This is 2 ½ hours of the entire day – 4 dynamic speakers and music by the 5th Alabama Regimental Band. The day in our history celebrating the most profound victory in the Southland against our enemies of our Southern Heritage. After 15 years & two lawsuits against the City of Selma Alabama, the bogus 14th Amendment finally applied to us!  Selma Chapter 53, UDC now holds the official deed to Confederate Memorial Circle!  We have a few of the commemorative programs left if you did not get one at the 2015 Re-dedication program or if you would like one for historical purposes, they are $5 each ( Plus $3 ship & Hand).

We have some very unique items for the live auction this year and we will also have the silent auction with some very nice & unique items. Once again, we will have ONLY 12 unique items in the live auction in order to serve our delicious Southern Fried Catfish supper on time at 6PM.  We will be serving ice cold watermelon all day long at the Pickaninny Freeze Watermelon Stand!

If you have bought ancestor pavers & have not visited Confederate Memorial Circle, this would be the perfect time to visit Live Oak Cemetery while you are here for Ole Bedford’s party and see your pavers at the Battle of Selma Memorial or at the Nathan Bedford Forrest Monument. We encourage you all to come to Selma and see our work…this project has become a reality because of YOUR generous & faithful contributions!  Thank you all so much for your dedication toward preserving our Southern, history, heritage & culture!  We have installed 17 historical plaques & 5 park benches with donors plaques attached. We have 4 more plaques to go and the historical narrative will be complete. Visitors/tourists can come to Confederate Memorial Circle & enjoy this historical learning center!  We are still selling pavers. For more information contact me & I will send you a form.

The Forrest Birthday Celebration is more than just a fund-raising party…to me and Butch it is a family reunion…it is always so wonderful to see everyone again each year and also to meet new folks who come for the first time…our extended Confederate family means so much to us and we just want y’all to know that.  We have made sooooo many wonderful friends throughout these years because of General Forrest!  Everyone loves General Forrest! We thank God for allowing us to be a part of this effort to preserve our Southern history, heritage and culture and we thank Him for your precious friendship!
